Harbour Grand Hong Kong (2014)

Hotel

So I land from my flight and after a decent ride, end-up at my hotel. I enter into the lobby of this hotel and the creamy beige marble just has me! Its such an expansive hotel with the wow factor of the chandeliers and professional staff meeting your every need. I am quite captivated by it all to be honest. The staff are oh so friendly and I eventually am through all the check in procedures and make it up to my room.

The Room

The room is on the Club level and is super spacious. I get in quite late and spend my time gazing at the beautiful lights of Hong Kong skyline and the reflective glow they paint across the calm waters of Victoria Harbour.

I head to the bar at Le 188˚ for a drink and some dinner (that will follow in a separate post). Once I head back to my room, the lights go out and I find myself asleep waiting for the break of dawn…

The view in the morning

When I wake up in the morning, the glow of the Hong Kong sun barges through the room forcing my eyelids confront its beautiful radiance.

I wake-up like a school kid who prefers the comfort of the soft plush pillow and beautiful cotton sheets. However my eyes gather enough strength to gaze at the sheer beauty the view that presents itself from my room window… yes the photo below is not a painting but the view I have from my bed.

I just spend my time sitting on the bed gazing longingly at the view. I am so captivated by it and I just oh so couldn’t dream of such beauty even in my deepest sleep. I just love it. Hong Kong… you are a beautiful city!

Okay, that’s way too many shots of the harbour view now – so sorry, don’t know what’s gotten into me. I need to head out and make the most of the one day I have in Hong Kong.

Bathroom

The bathroom is stocked with my favourite Elemis bath products… I love these. British Airways use this in their lounges in London Heathrow and JFK.

The marble is beautiful and the bathroom is spacious.

The rainforest show and bathtub are just perfect for a morning wake-me-up cleanse.

I am feel fresh and ready to tackle the day… and as I look back at the window, the view remains as awesome as ever.

Breakfast

The day begins at breakfast at Le 188˚ and the spectacular view from my room just follows me… I mean this is amazing!

I have some carrot juice (being healthy 🙂 ) and a danish to kick-off.

The eggs in the restaurant are cooked to order and I find myself choosing probably the richest option, eggs benedict with lobster and black truffles… now that is seriously decadent.

The creamy hollandaise with the pungent truffle flavour provides a grand entrance to this. The egg yolks are encouraged out of their egg white shelter to run across dish leaving a sticky rich radiant glow across the plate. The succulent lobster is a treat in its own right when paired with the soft silky egg whites, the rich yolk and the hollandaise which is mixed with earthy flavour of the truffles, you just left conflicted over whats more beautiful the view or the eggs…

Now I have an amazing lunch planned, but before I head out, I check out the rest of the hotel…

The Pool

The pool offers another view of the harbour and is full of lovely cabanas to chill on a sunny afternoon in Hong Kong.

Business Centre

The hotel business centre has a superb Boardroom, which is perfect for ad-hoc meetings.. just love it.

The Club Lounge

Now the Club Lounge is just out of this world, floor to ceiling views of the harbour

Once I have finished my lunch appointment (I’ll post my review of the lunch later), the lovely staff offer me a late check-out at 5pm. My afternoon tea in the Club Lounge is just lovely as the staff in the lounge check me out before my flight.

Such an amazing hotel with such amazing staff and a view that is so picturesque one feels like they are in an art gallery. Hong Kong you are a beautiful city!
