Entrance and Champagne Bar
The entrance to the lounge displays a mix of the beautiful dark floors and walls with a scenic view of the runway on the right and plush red sofas peppered throughout. Like an old club. However, the thing that most captures your imagination when you first walk in has got to be the champagne bar! It just welcomes you into the lounge with open arms.
Its a little early (5am) so I avoid having a tipple.
Cabana
If there is anything that sets this lounge apart, its their cabanas. Now these are more a spa than a mini hotel room (unlike the ones you have in the British Airways Concorde Room – you can check them out here). You are here to get ready… not to have a snooze.
There is a small sofa to chill, the beautiful bathtub, rainforest shower and a spacious cabinet top to get yourself ready. I absolutely loved it! Its the perfect place to have an amazing bath and feel a million dollars to tackle the day ahead.
The Haven (Breakfast)
The Haven Restaurant is the dining room of the Lounge. Its got an a’la carte and buffet selection. I am seated in one of the booths and am attended to by the lovely staff. The restaurant here is run by the Pennisula Hotel Hong Kong and the service levels are amazing.
The buffet selection is quite extensive – this is just one tenth of it (the pastries section looked just lovely).
I am not particularly hungry, so I have some smoked salmon and dim sum dumplings.
There are some flaky pastries which form the staple of any healthy breakfast :).
They do eggs made to order and I have and egg white omelette with mushrooms, peppers and tomatoes. The silky soft omelette with the firm but juicy vegetables are such a delight.
Outside the restaurant is the Haven Bar, which has an inviting array of spirits and liqueurs (a little too early today).
The Lounge
At the back of the Haven, there is another lounging area and now the sun has arrived and the views of the tarmac are just amazing.
The Chair
Then I decide to spend a little time doing some work on the Cathay Pacific’s exclusive Solus Chair. The chair was designed by Cathay and Foster & Partners and is handmade in Italy by Poltrona Frau (their leather is used in luxury cars such as Maserati, Audi and Mercedes).
Its quite comfortable, provides the right level of privacy, the plush cushion is oh so easy on the back and there is a hidden charge point making it the perfect work station. I love it… I need one of these at home.
Take-off
Then I am off on a short flight to Bangkok and the view as we leave Hong Kong of all the islands in the South China Sea is quite beautiful. (I actually blogged about my night in Bangkok yesterday, so you can check it out here).
