Leaving Hong Kong
Its a beautiful view on the way to the airport… so scenic! I am gonna miss this place. The stunning view of Victoria Harbour is etched in my memory and fond memories of my hotel (you can check out my review of the Hotel here).
Qantas Lounge
I decide to make way into the Qantas Lounge to check out the offerings, as I had already been to Cathay Pacific’s Wing First Class Lounge a few days ago.
There is an extensive selection of oriental inspired buffet food by Neil Perry available.
The Bar
The bar is a charming place, I am provided with some dim sims from the trolley and indulge in a beautiful glass of red to see out the evening.
Char Sui Pork with Rice
The dish of the day is the pork which is succulent and smoky in taste with the lovely red exterior. The light soy sauce adds some salt and stamps the taste of Orient to the dish.
The Wing First Class Lounge
I did a more detailed review of the Wing First Class Lounge here. So I won’t go over old ground. I will focus on dinner here.
I was with someone in the lounge and they opted for the buffet, of which one of the dishes is set out below.
I am still feeling a little peckish and I opt for the super rich mushroom, truffle, cream tagliatelle with a soft poached egg. This was on the made to order menu and was paired with a lovely rich velvety Bordeaux red.
The egg yolk paints the pasta with sticky rich yellow coating, while the truffle and mushrooms provide a pungent earthy flavour and the cream of course adds a light touch to the dish. The pasta just holds everything together to deliver a taste sensation with every mouthful.
The desserts are from the Pennisula Hotel and are wonderful. Do not miss the chocolates.
