Qantas Hong Kong Lounge

The Lounge

So it’s that time again when I have to leave Hong Kong! Such sadness, but it’s tempered with the happiness I have when I walk through the doors of the Qantas Lounge in Hong Kong.

There is a beautiful long marble bar for you to perch yourself on and sip some lovely wines.

The Bar

I grab a glass of the Wolf Blass, Grey Label, Mclaren Vale, Shiraz (2012).

The shiraz is amazing with aromas of dark berries and chocolate. On the palate this rich velvety, opulent texture sweeps through with deep spicy berry fruit flavours and hints of dark chocolate in the finish .

The Char Sui Pork is lovely. With the soft tender succulent pork meat with the rich fatty oils being paired with the saltiness of the dressing for a wonderful tasting experience. The pickled vegetables are a tangy accompaniment to this wonderful dish.

Dining Room

At the dining room, there is second plate of the day (in addition to the one served at the bar).

Today’s Plate of the Day is the Prawn with Shitake Mushrooms and Hot Bean Sauce. The succulent prawns are wonderful when combined with the earthy flavour of the mushrooms while the beautiful hot bean sauce provides an amazing array of flavours.

I finish up with a sago coconut milk pudding with some palm sugar. A refreshingly creamy and sweet dessert.

A coffee proves to be the perfect wake-me-up solution for my tired eyes.

Dim Sum Trolley

There are little dumplings brought out on the dim sum trolleys at night. I have a pork and cucumber dumpling which is delicious. There are three varieties on offer each day but unfortunately I have to leave after the first one is served.

Pretty soon the boarding call chimes and its time to go! See you later Hong Kong!
