Hilton Melbourne South Wharf

I am in Melbourne for a couple of days and I find myself staying at the beautiful Hilton Melbourne South Wharf. I arrive from the plane make the long trek from Tullamarine airport to the Hilton hotel.

When I arrive, the staff at the hotel are super friendly and I manage to have a room a view over the river and the city.  The check-in is quite seamless and I am eager to get to the room to rest for the day ahead.

The Room

The room has just had its turn-down service with the little choc mint placed on the pillow. Not sure why but I find the whole turn-down service to be so gorgeous, despite its relative simplicity.

The view from the window is just stunning; Melbourne is such a beautiful city.

The Bathroom

The bathroom has a beautiful cream marble finish with a vanity cupboard, deep bathtub and shower. The bathroom comes with fully stocked Peter Thomas Roth Bath & Body Collection amenities to keep me fresh for the day ahead.

The Wine & View

Hilton provide a complimentary bottle of wine and the view while sipping the said wine is simply dazzling. The sun escapes over the horizon as a gentle shadow forms across the Melbourne CBD with an allure just as the night lights of sky scrappers begin to assert themselves with a greater contrast. It is such a delightful evening indeed and I wish every minute would last forever.

The view at night is quite breathtaking and a trademark of Melbourne.

Breakfast

The next morning, when waking up at one of Melbourne’s finest hotels, one must have breakfast in bed! It’s simply a must. On the menu is Eggs Royale: Smoked Salmon, Poached Eggs, Gratin Hollandaise on an English Muffin and Vanilla Pancakes with Maple Syrup and a Berry Compote.

The Egg Royale is perfect. The rich salty salmon dominates, the creamy hollandaise has the most wonderful texture, the crunchy English muffin provides a very solid base and the gelatine texture of the egg white is firm and done to “touch” while the runny yolk pairs with the rich hollandaise to take the dish to another level. Its simplicity and decadence woven together.

The vanilla pancakes are sweet, soft and plush with supple doughy texture. The berry compote is too sweet for me, but a good lashing of maple syrup adds a smoky sweetness to the pancakes. It’s quite a delight.

The coffee (which is quite amazing for hotel coffee) provides the perfect wake-me-up kick. One just has to lie back at every mouthful and enjoy the beautiful view of Melbourne as the sun creeps up the horizon to shower Melbourne with its rays of light… well almost, the clouds which are form part of Melbourne’s signature weather do their best to interrupt…. but they don’t rob the skyline of its beauty.
