London in Winter (2012)

I had a friend accompany me into the lounge (normally I jetset alone)… she was off to the US, I was off to London first before heading over to the US for two weeks… we were meant to meet in New York and partay, but alas she was lugged with carrying a friends wedding dress around which meant we had to cancel our catch-up plans 🙁

Anyway this my usual jaunt to the US via London to do the whole transatlantic voyage (see my New York Guide for more info). But I had the pleasure of a few days in London to chill… it was winter, it snowed and it was beautiful. Enjoy.

Qantas First Lounge (Sydney)

I start my vacation by settling into a lovely stay at the Qantas Lounge…

A rustic pâté of blue eye and ocean trout on toast with herb salad & salmon roe was on the menu to kick-off

My friend had the buffalo mozzarella with vine ripened tomatoes, basil and 20 year old balsamic and olive oil

Wagyu Toastie – beautiful shreds of wagyu beef meat with an Asian slaw.

She has the Bannockburn free range chicken schnitzel with Italian coleslaw and aioli… I did suffer food envy.

Then a lil back massage to loosen the muscles before my flight takes place in the Lounge’s Payot Spa!

Qantas First (Sydney to London Heathrow)

To kick things-off onboard, I start with the Tomato Soup with Thyme Croutons

Duck Salad with Pickled Cabbage

Pan Fried Blue Eye with Spiced Eggplant, Gai Lan and Ginger Glaze

Seared Rangers Valley Skirt Steak and Potato and Leek Gratin, Asparagus and Horseradish

Landing in London, I make my way to my beautiful hotel… The Hilton Park Lane.

Afternoon tea in the Executive Lounge there is a thing of pure beauty….

Their Executive Rooms are simply lovely and expansive….

It snowed in London that year… which made the worlds most beautiful city (sorry Sydney, New York, Paris, Venice etc. London is my favourite), even more beautiful!

British Airways Galleries First Lounge

When I get back to London I arrive back just before my flight back home. I find myself overlooking the tarmac and enjoying a lovely meal prior to departure in the British Airways Lounge… I love this place.

Canapes to start with some Rose Champagne…
