So I am off on another whirlwind trip… this time to beautiful Singapore for the weekend!
Qantas First Lounge (Sydney)
Its simply amazing that in all times I have visited the First Lounge I have never had breakfast there (as all my flights to Europe have been afternoon departures). Finally on this wonderful Friday morning, I find myself in the lounge enjoying a lovely breakfast overlooking the tarmac.
I start with a coffee to wake-me-up… the rush of caffeine and the smooth velvety espresso crema is just the kick I need!
I then move onto the Eggs Royale with a glass of Taittinger Champagne…. now don’t roll eyes at me, when at an international airline lounge any timezone across the world is applicable, so it is perfectly civilised time somewhere to have a glass of champagne.
The eggs are perfectly done and the creamy hollandaise reinforces the richness of the yolk while the oily pungent salmon proves to the be the perfect accompaniment to the dish.
I am still feeling a little peckish after a while and I can’t resist the Corn Fritters. They are golden brown and crunchy with a beautiful texture, while smoothness of the guacamole and the sweet spice of the relish just shines through to “make” the dish.
Then my instagram posts catch the attention of a friend, who messages me and tells me he’s heading to the lounge for some R&R before his flight to the USA. I join him and he orders the Eggs Benedict and a coffee / smoothie combination (below). We have a good chat before he has to make the walk to the boarding gate.
Eventually I find myself in beautiful Singapore and here are some snaps of the cocktails and views of the beautiful city…..
Raffles Hotel (Long Bar)
The Long Bar in Singapore is where the Singapore Sling was created! In the early 1900s, bartender Ngiam Tong Boon invented the drink to entice ladies with its distinct pink colour to spend their evenings sipping away on his creation! It worked and well the drink is now part of Singapore’s folklore. The bar has free peanuts and you are encouraged throw the shells on the floor (weird). We have a couple of drinks; I opt for the Singapore Sling and my dining companion opts for the a green variation. It’s a refreshing tropical drink… the perfect tonic for the humid climate of Singapore.
1-Altitude
Post the Raffles we head off to 1-Altitude (a rooftop bar with some pretty stunning views)! We first head to club… which is so not our scene but eventually find ourselves sipping cocktails with some amazing views of Marina Bay and the city skyline.
We sip on lovely champagne cocktails and tropical cocktails as we enjoy the view!
CÉ LA VI
The next day we are off to Marina Bay Sands where we have some drinks with a view of Singapore from the other side of the river. Marina Bay is amazing (recommend a visit any day of the week)!
At the Skybar we sip on some cocktails as we enjoy the stunning views over Marina Bay Sands!
Berry Champagne Cocktail and Geisha (Sake based Cocktail)
The view over the South China sea and beyond is quite amazing!
Having enjoyed so thoroughly at Skybar we head over to the Club Lounge (on the other side) to enjoy more cocktails….the view is actually better than the Skybar to be honest!
Sangria
We just can’t seem to go past the jugs of Sangria which is amazing with the red wine and spices intermingled to perfection and how good is this stunning view?
Finally its time to say farewell and we make our to the airport.
Qantas Singapore Lounge
The Qantas Singapore Lounge is lovely with a beautiful long bar serving some choice drinks
Full platters of amazing desserts!
A dish of the day style dining… I had the spiced chicken on polenta with some salsa.
I have a quick shower to freshen-up before my flight!
Emirates Lounge
I prove a little restless and head-off to check-out the Emirates Lounge…
The food offerings are quite something!
So ends a lovely weekend in Singapore…
