Manly 16ft Skiff Club

So we make the trek across to Manly for a leisurely lunch at the Manly Skiff Club. Perched on the on the left of Manly Wharf with stunning views across the beautiful blue waters of Manly – this it is one of the most scenic venues. Love the view.

I start with a beautiful glass of Robert Oatley Shiraz and one of my dining companions who decides not to drink opts for the Lemon Lime Bitters.

Seafood Antipasto

Fresh Prawns, Oysters, Chargrilled Baby Octopus and Fish Cakes

The prawns are succulent and fresh with full flavour and perfectly complemented by the tangy seafood sauce. The oysters are creamy with an intense salty burst of the sea flavour. The calamari is light and beautiful, retaining its full flavour while the octopus retains the smoky flavour of the grill. The perfect start to lunch.

Seafood Basket

Its similar to the entree (except with a piece of fish)… but my dining companion orders the Seafood Basket which suits the location

Heritage Hunter Valley Eye Fillet

The eye fillet is wrapped in Speck with crushed white beans, mushrooms and covered in a red wine jus with some crinkle cut potatoes.

The eye fillet is succulent and crisp on the outside with the speck infused on the skin with a rare inner portion which has the full flavour of the beef with a jelly-like texture. The creaminess of the white beans adds some balance, while the earthiness of the mushrooms shine and of course the red wine jus adds a lovely covering to accentuate the juices of the beef.
