Intercontinental Tokyo Bay

The Hotel

So I have hopped off my flight from London (you can check out my post of my JAL flight here) and make my way to the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay which will be my home for the next few nights.

The lobby is spacious and exudes luxury… I am a sucker for amazing chandeliers!

I am staying on one of the Club Floors, so check in is conveniently located in the Club Lounge. The staff are super hospitable friendly and go out the way to make a difference to your stay.

Eventually I am all checked-in and am escorted to my room…

Club Bay View Room

The Room

The room has the are plush with super soft and comfortable sofas and bedding, dark wooden furniture, light and dark cream décor. It has a touch of Moroccan charm and elegance with the “touch” one would imagine from an understated palace in the far east.

The lights of Tokyo prove oh so welcoming as I settle into my first night!

I head back to sleep and fall into a deep sleep. The next day I awake to this view…. as the sun pierces through the window to welcome you to the majestic view of Tokyo Bay.

You are drawn your bed to experience the fullness of the view across the entire bay. It is a view that is so captivating, there is a stillness, a sense of the vastness of the bay and activity on the ground below that reflects the industrious nature of Tokyo. It is a sense of contrasts and an amazing beauty… I just love this city.

No picture quite captures the room, but my Round the World Video Diary has a lovely video clip of the hotel room – you can check it out here.

At midday, after breakfast in the Club Lounge, I tuck into the complimentary fruit bowl and perch myself against the window to look at this stunning view!

Not wanting to leave room, I stay inside on some days and gaze outside the window as the sun escapes over the horizon and dusk sets in. The glowing lights of Tokyo Bay and the Rainbow Bridge light up the sky and this city continues to dazzle me with its beauty.

The Bathroom

The bathroom is quite lovely with quality bath amenities, gorgeous towels and a deep soaking tub!

The Club Lounge

As part of the Club Room, you have complimentary access to the Club Lounge, which offers breakfast, afternoon tea, drinks, and a Club dinner as well as a quiet refuge with comfy sofas for those workaholics who need to stay glued to their laptops. What I also love about the Lounge is that the view is almost as beautiful as from the room. The first picture below is the view I had pretty much every day at breakfast (I had to get-up early to beat others to the prime seat – but I am an early riser even on holidays…unless hungover). It was stunning.

Breakfast

Breakfast in the lounge can be best described as a treat; silky soft buttery scrambled eggs, some cured fish, and delectable soft fluffy pastries.

Soft, Silky, Buttery Scrambled Eggs… yes please!

The Egg Station – Poached, Scrambled, Fried, Omelette or Whatever… they do it for you!

Afternoon Tea

The Lounge is amazing… you can settle into these comfortable sofas and while away the afternoon… I love this picture of JFK and Jacqui!

There is a beautiful selection of cakes and sweet treats for the afternoon tea which is lovely.

Drinks & Dinner

Unlike most Club Lounges which just do a short happy hour for everyone to load-up on the liquor, the Intercontinental Tokyo Bay provides both a Happy Hour and an extended Dinner Service. Beautiful pours of wine with lovely mix of Western and Japanese cuisine provide a lovely meal as the night sets in and the glowing skyline of Tokyo replaces the sun for the evening. Its a beautiful experience.

This hotel is the best! I just loved every moment of my stay. The service could not be faulted, the room was oh so comfortable and the Club Lounge was the perfect haven to rest, dine and take in the views of the beautiful city. Speaking of which…the breathtaking views from the hotel room almost held me captive the entire time, I certainly didn’t want to venture out of my room at all!
