Harbour Grand Hong Kong

The Hotel

Whenever I stay in Hong Kong I always try to choose the Harbour Grand Hong Kong. The hotel is situated in North Point and has spectacular views over Victoria Harbour and is close to most of the attractions on the island.

The lobby is the epitome of grandeur with the finish of cream marble exuding an understated luxury. The oversized Swarovski crystal chandeliers captures your attention while the sweeping double staircase imposes its commanding presence.

The Room

I have booked a Harbour Club Room on this stay which has a minimalist approach with a large oversized bed, painting of the harbour, coffee and tea facilities, sleek flat screen TVs with a DVD player. The rooms have free water bottles, bathrobes / slippers and an over-sized safe. The bathroom had a good rainforest shower with a combined bathtub. On the soft cream marble tops are well stocked amenities and Elemis products are provided in the bath.

It’s difficult to capture the room in one snap, so here is a  mini video clip of the room.

Waking up to this view is such a dream – I couldn’t describe it in simple words!  It is for an age that I gaze endlessly at the beauty of this magical city.

The bathroom is pretty amazing and the amenities are quite useful and practical.

The bathtub and shower is the perfect way to freshen up for the day ahead.

Harbour Club Lounge

The Harbour Club room provided access to the Harbour Club Lounge on the 41st floor at the top of the tower. The lounge as expansive views through its floor-to-ceiling windows of Victoria Harbour. The lounge offers breakfast (in the restaurant next door), afternoon tea, evening cocktails and canapes. There is also a private concierge which handles your needs and you can check-in and check-out at the lounge rather than the reception.

Afternoon Tea
The afternoon tea offering here is pretty good too – there is little tarts, sandwiches, mini bagels, spring rolls and dumplings to taste and the wine offering is pretty amazing too.

Evening Canapes and Cocktails
As the day draws to a close, the sunset vistas are equally magical as the morning.

The lounge has a fine range of cocktails made to order – Mojitos and Martinis are the order for the day.

An equally impressive range of canapes are available to nibble on as the sun sets across the horizon.

Breakfast

The breakfast experience is an east meets west approach which is consistent with broader Hong Kong; the orient with a touch a colonial yesteryear. The views of the harbour from the restaurant are equally as stunning as the Executive Lounge and room.

There are scrambled eggs, cooked to order dishes like eggs with lobster, dim sum selection, pastries, oriental tea, coffees, fresh fruits and juices.

Overall

I just love this hotel which is why I stay here pretty much any time I’m here in Hong Kong. It’s well situated near all key attractions on the island, the rooms have amazing views, the breakfast here is top notch (with both a la carte and buffet selection available), the service is a key differentiator (everything is always taken care of) and the lounge is the perfect refuge whether you’ve just landed from a long flight, looking to kill some time before dinner or seeking refuge after a long day walking through the humidity. I managed to get the late check-out (5pm) which was perfect given most flights back to Australia depart late in the evening.

I was in Hong Kong for a short whirlwind trip, so I didn’t use all the hotel’s facilities as I was out with friends and enjoying the fine dining that Hong Kong has to offer. I would not the hotel does have an amazing gym and pretty large pool overlooking the skyline.
