Portofino

By

So today I decide to catch the ferry from Santa Margherita Ligure to Portofino. I have always wanted to visit Portofino and have had pretty high expectations of the place. It is an exciting trip across the Riviera to visit this classic resort destination.

Ferry Ride

The view from the ferry ride across is stunning. That building (in the first photo below) perched on the top of the cliff is the Belmond Hotel Splendido, where I am going to have lunch today. The crystal blue waters, the multi-coloured apartments, the big boats and the fashionable set make this a place a little town of wonder. It has come along way from a humble fishing village.

View from the San Giorgio

If you have to do one thing in Portofino, I recommend visiting the San Giorgio Church. It is a beautiful church (you can see some snaps from inside) and next to the Church there is a stunning view over the Bay of Portofino (first photo below).

Walk through the Cliffs

I also recommend walking through the path on the cliffs towards Paraggi (another seaside town). You’ll see some stunning buildings and of course continue to enjoy the wonderful views across the crystal blue waters of the Riviera.
